DESPITE / IN SPITE OF / ALTHOUGH / EVEN THOUGH


1. DESPITE / IN SPITE OF = a pesar de

despite noun phrase (the heavy rain)
+ gerund (smoking)
in spite of the fact that + S + V + C (he was ill)

Despite the heavy rain, we arrived on time.

In spite of smoking too much, he was very healthy.

Despite the fact that he was ill, he came to school.


He went to work despite not feeling well

He went to work in spite of his sickness

He went to work in spite of the fact that he was ill.


2. EVEN THOUGH / ALTHOUGH = aunque

even though

+ S + V + C

although

Although he smokes too much, he is very healthy.


Even though he lives very far, we meet quite often.



Though/although/even though y in spite of/despite.
 1. Traduce estas frases al inglés. Haz dos versiones de cada frase, una con but y otra que termine con though.
1. Ana es simpática, pero no me gusta su marido.
2. Hablamos por teléfono todos los días, pero nunca nos vemos.
3. No tengo un billete de 5 euros, pero tengo uno de 10.
4. No conozco a su hermano, pero conozco a su hermana.
5. No está nevando, pero sí hace frio.
2. Traduce estas frases al inglés. Para cada frase haz dos versiones en inglés, una con in spite of/despite + sustantivo, y otra con although/even though + sujeto + verbo.
6. A pesar de sus problemas era una buena madre.

3. Traduce estas frases utilizando although even though.
